Collecting Bottle Caps to Gift Silver Cars to Mobility-Impaired Seniors
The Gwangju Social Welfare Fund announced on the 14th that the Wolsan 4-dong Saemaul Association delivered six silver cars (walking aids) to elderly residents with mobility difficulties in the area.
The silver cars delivered this time were purchased with the proceeds from the 'Ask-No-Questions Bottle Cap Project' conducted by the Wolsan 4-dong Saemaul Association to promote resource circulation, and were handed over the day before to households of elderly people living alone with mobility difficulties.
The Ask-No-Questions Bottle Cap Project is a carbon neutrality practice project in daily life that sells aluminum bottle caps discarded throughout Gwangju as recyclables.
The bottle cap collection project, which started in October last year, collected enough bottle caps to fill a 1-ton truck over six months, and the proceeds from sales were used to purchase the silver cars.
Song Byeong-un, chairman of the Wolsan 4-dong Saemaul Association, said, "I thank the residents who collected aluminum bottle caps, which cause soil pollution if buried with garbage, instead of discarding them," and added, "We ask for continued participation in eco-friendly projects that consider residents and the environment."
