Gochang-gun to Operate 'Joseon Dynasty Experience Program' Until the 30th

The Mujang Eupseong Preservation Society (President Kim Gi-yuk) in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, is preparing a variety of experiential events themed around a Joseon travelogue titled "The Historical Journey of Chechalsa Yi Won-ik in Mujang."

According to the county on the 14th, this program was selected for the Cultural Heritage Administration's Saengsaeng Cultural Heritage contest project and is being promoted with a total budget of 50 million won. It will be held every Saturday from the 15th to the 30th around Mujang Eupseong.

Based on records of Tongjesa Yi Sun-sin and Chechalsa Yi Won-ik's visits, the program was recognized for developing storytelling content about the historical value and symbolism of Mujang Eupseong, along with various experiential learning activities. This is the second time it has been selected following 2022.

This historical journey program, designed to experience daily life by wearing hanbok and returning to the Joseon era, includes a total play depicting Yi Sun-sin's life, a Joseon military training ground, lotus boat floating, lantern making experience, traditional games, archery, and various play experiences to learn about the spirit of Mujang-hyeon engraved on the Eupseong stele.

Kim Gi-yuk, president of the Mujang Eupseong Preservation Society, said, "By operating a program that modernly embraces the patriotic spirit of Mujang Eupseong, we will enhance its historical value as a place for historical experience that transcends generations. We hope many residents and tourists will visit Mujang Eupseong during the 2023 Gochang World Heritage City Visit Year and the 20th Green Barley Field Festival to create precious memories through fun and meaningful experiences."

Oh Mi-sook, head of the county's Culture and Arts Division, stated, "We will do our best to expand opportunities to enjoy cultural heritage by developing various historical and cultural contents that local residents can easily access, thereby enhancing the region's identity and residents' pride."
