The Incheon-type Public-Private Partnership Carbon Neutrality Project is a business in which SBC, Incheon City, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Korea Energy Agency, Korea Institute of Energy Technology, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction establish a cooperative network and provide customized support such as diagnosis, education, consulting, and policy funds to small and medium-sized enterprises practicing carbon-neutral management within industrial complexes in the Incheon area.
The meeting was organized to share the progress of the project and to seek effective support measures for the on-site difficulties related to carbon neutrality faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in the Incheon area. About 20 government and local government officials, including Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC; Park Jong-won, Director of Regional Economic Policy Bureau, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Kim Woo-jung, Director of Regional Enterprise Policy Bureau, Ministry of SMEs and Startups; Lee Nam-joo, Director of Future Industry Bureau, Incheon City; and Kim Jeong-hwan, Chairman of Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, as well as 12 companies including Hyundai Engineering & Construction and the Incheon Autonomous Industry-Academia-Research Council (MC), attended the meeting.
The attending business representatives mentioned the need for ▲ support for new facility investments ▲ support for carbon-neutral management consulting ▲ expansion of environmental label certification acquisition ▲ expansion of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management support during the carbon neutrality transition process. Jeong Ki-jeong, CEO of Zhenentec, a diamond tool processing company, said, "We understand the necessity of ESG management and carbon neutrality, but small and medium-sized enterprises have limitations such as lack of manpower and funds compared to large corporations, and many do not know about step-by-step implementation plans. If the government, local governments, and institutions collaborate to guide support systems and strengthen linked support, the effect will be greater."
