Boseong-gun Accepts Applications for Forestry Direct Payments

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will accept applications for the ‘2023 Forestry and Forest Public Interest Direct Payment’ from April 17 to May 19.

Eligible recipients of the forestry direct payment are forestry management entities registered between April 1, 2019, and September 30, 2022, and include foresters and agricultural corporations actively engaged in forestry on mountainous land.

Foresters wishing to apply for the forestry direct payment must familiarize themselves with the eligibility requirements and precautions in advance, then submit the forestry direct payment registration form and related documents to the town or township office that has jurisdiction over their location.

In particular, this year, items that were temporarily exempted last year have become mandatory. Therefore, if there are any changes in forestry management registration details, applicants must first consult the local forest service office or national forest management office and complete the forestry management change registration before applying for the forestry direct payment.

Key changes from last year include ▲a certificate proving at least 90 days of work in the forestry logbook for previous year’s forestry direct payment recipients (mandatory), ▲for forest product producers’ direct payments, proof of forest product sales amounting to at least 1.2 million KRW annually (mandatory), and ▲for afforestation direct payments, only achievements within the past 10 years prior to the application year are recognized.

Once the forestry direct payment application is completed (by May 19), eligibility verification will be conducted to finalize the list of payment recipients (in June).

After confirming the recipients, income verification and compliance with obligations will be checked (from July to August), and based on the results, the forestry direct payments will be made (from October to November).

A Boseong-gun official said, “We hope that the forestry direct payment will help stabilize the income of foresters even a little,” and added, “We urge all eligible forestry direct payment recipients to apply within the application period without fail.”
