LG Donates 2 Billion KRW for Wildfire Recovery in Gangwon-do
Electronics, Uplus, and Lifestyle Health Support Victims
LG recently announced on the 13th that it will donate 2 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea to help residents affected by the wildfire in Gangneung, Gangwon Province. The donated funds will be used for the restoration of the wildfire-affected areas and support for the disaster victims.
The wildfire damaged 379 hectares of forest in Gangneung City (equivalent to 530 soccer fields) and 125 buildings including houses, hotels, and pensions. An LG official stated, "We hope that our support for damage restoration will help the disaster victims, who have lost their homes and are facing difficulties due to this unexpected disaster, to return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
LG affiliates are also assisting residents affected by the wildfire. LG Electronics is providing home appliances such as washing machines and air purifiers for emergency shelters and operating a free repair mobile service center. LG Household & Health Care is supplying essential daily necessities worth 300 million KRW to the disaster victims, including bottled water for drinking, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and body wash.

LG Uplus has installed mobile base stations and deployed on-site support personnel for residents in the affected areas. They have set up free mobile phone charging stations and LTE routers.
