This meeting was a follow-up measure to the "National Advanced Industry Promotion Strategy" announced on March 15. It was held to gather opinions from domestic and international industry, academia, and research experts and to build consensus regarding the establishment of the Technology Center, which will serve as a hub for advanced semiconductor processes and materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) technology development.

About 20 experts from device companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, domestic SoBuJang companies including Wonik IPS, Dongjin Semichem, and Hana Micron, global SoBuJang companies such as Lam Research and AMAT from the United States, ASML from the Netherlands, TEL from Japan, as well as academia and research institutes attended.

The Technology Center will integrate advanced semiconductor process infrastructure and perform functions such as establishing a mid- to long-term semiconductor product and technology roadmap to suggest directions for semiconductor industry development, supporting process and product technology development and performance evaluation for device companies and SoBuJang companies at the IMEC level, and fostering semiconductor specialized personnel.

During the meeting, discussions were held on plans for establishing the Technology Center, efficient operational methods to support advanced semiconductor technology development and product evaluation for SoBuJang companies, and private sector participation and revenue generation plans for the sustainable operation of the Technology Center.
