Gangnam Abduction and Murder Case: Wealthy Couple Behind the Incident Sent to Prosecution in Custody... "We Are Innocent"
Yoo Sang-won and Hwang Eun-hee, the couple suspected to be behind the Gangnam kidnapping and murder case, have been handed over to the prosecution. Yoo Sang-won (50), the husband, continues to deny the crime and stated that he feels "wronged."
On the 13th, the Seoul Suseo Police Station sent Yoo Sang-won and Hwang Eun-hee (48), who are charged with robbery and murder, to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office under arrest around 8 a.m. Yoo and Hwang were arrested on the 5th and 8th respectively, and the court issued arrest warrants. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency decided the day before to disclose Yoo Sang-won and Hwang Eun-hee’s personal information, including their faces and ages.
Wearing dark clothes and covering his face, Yoo Sang-won responded to reporters' questions such as "Is it true that Lee Kyung-woo proposed the crime?" and "Why did you send 70 million won to Lee Kyung-woo?" by saying he feels "wronged." However, he remained silent when asked if he continues to deny the charges, whether he intended to share the victim’s cryptocurrency, or if he had any words for the victim’s family.
Following him, Hwang Eun-hee appeared wearing dark clothes and covering her face but did not answer questions such as "Did Lee Kyung-woo propose the crime?" or "Do you deny the charges?" and immediately boarded the transport vehicle.
The couple Yoo and Hwang, who are in a de facto marital relationship, are suspected of agreeing to and conspiring in the kidnapping and murder of a woman in her 40s, referred to as Ms. A, as proposed by Lee Kyung-woo. It was investigated that Yoo and Hwang paid Lee Kyung-woo a total of 70 million won, including an initial payment of 20 million won.
In September 2020, Yoo and Hwang invested about 100 million won in the cryptocurrency Puriever at Ms. A’s recommendation, but their relationship soured as the market price fell. They were also responsible for promoting Puriever and reportedly suffered complaints from investors.
