Five Sites Including Pocheon Sanjeong Lake and Gimpo Hadongcheon Designated as 'Ecotourism Destinations'
Five locations including Sansuyu Village in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, Jilomok Village in Paju, Achimgoyo Pureun Village in Gapyeong, Sanjeong Lake area in Pocheon, and Hadongcheon area in Gimpo have been selected as sites for resident-led ecological tourism hub development projects.
On the 13th, Gyeonggi-do announced that it has finalized these five locations as target sites with the goal of fostering ecological tourism areas led by local residents by discovering ecological experience content for sustainable ecological tourism hub operation based on the region's premium ecological resources and supporting the establishment of income generation plans.
According to the main regional development plans, Pocheon City is preparing to develop content that allows residents and tourists to experience the region's ecological tourism throughout the four seasons by utilizing the great nature of Sanjeong Lake. Gimpo City plans to nurture ecological tourism resources such as lotus flowers centered around the Hadongcheon ecological trail and expand new ecological experience programs through collaboration with resident councils.
Additionally, Icheon, Paju, and Gapyeong will each invest a budget of 45 million KRW per hub for resident refresher training and commercialization of experience events to strengthen operational capabilities.
Choi Yong-hoon, Director of the Tourism Industry Division of the province, stated, "We will do our best to create and revitalize ecological tourism sites in Gyeonggi-do where people can safely enjoy the outdoors while feeling the importance of the environment."
