President Yoon Suk-yeol held a brief summit meeting with Ant?nio Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal, who is on an official visit to Korea, at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 12th, spokesperson Lee Do-woon conveyed in a written briefing.
President Yoon said, "Portugal is a country that has developed a long-standing friendly relationship with Korea," adding, "It is well known as the country of Coach Bento, who deeply moved our people by leading the team to the Round of 16 in the Qatar World Cup, and as the country of UN Secretary-General Guterres."
He continued, "There is great potential to expand cooperation in future industries such as semiconductors and electric vehicle batteries," and stated, "Our government will also take an interest and provide necessary support."
President Yoon also requested support for the bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan.

In response, Prime Minister Costa said, "We have a strong will to further strengthen economic cooperation with Korea," and added, "I hope that this visit will serve as an opportunity for closer cooperation between the two countries in areas such as semiconductors, electric vehicle batteries, renewable energy, and automobile parts."
