Wando-gun Hosts First Garden Festival at Beach Park

Exhibition of 50 Garden Sites from Next Month 1st to 31st

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do will hold the 3rd Jeonnam Garden Festival from the 1st to the 31st of next month at the beach park under the theme "Big Garden Festival unfolding in the spring sea of May, Wando Carnival."

According to the county on the 12th, the opening ceremony of the Garden Festival is scheduled for the 4th of next month, and the works will be exhibited for a month from the 1st to the 31st of next month.

The county held a judging committee on the 10th to select the participating works to be exhibited at the Garden Festival.

The participating works were received through an open call, and the judging committee selected four distinctive "Artist Gardens" and 30 "Participatory Gardens" under the theme of "Sea and Subtropical Forest," matching the concept of being held for the first time in Korea along the beach area.

The county plans to create gardens reflecting Wando's unique sentiment, including one "Representative Garden" and 12 "Island Seat Gardens" decorated by the 12 eup and myeon of Wando-gun.

In particular, the "Representative Garden" will feature a garden restaurant inspired by a picnic garden surrounded by flowers and trees, serving as a space where visitors can taste and enjoy local specialty foods during the festival period, and a cooking show by a famous chef will also be held.

Since the festival is held in May, which includes Children's Day, a separate space will be created for children’s experience events and character photo zones, providing attractions, food, and entertainment that the whole family can enjoy.

Additionally, various experiences such as bubble shows, mini topiary making, moss garden making, and performances will be operated twice in connection with the Jangbogo Seafood Festival (May 4th?7th) and the Jeollanam-do Provincial Sports Festival (May 12th?15th).

County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, "Since the Jeonnam Garden Festival is the first event held in our county, we have significantly increased the number of gardens compared to previous garden festivals," adding, "We will prepare a variety of programs so that both local residents and tourists can heal and enjoy."
