Naver Shopping Expands Free Authenticity Verification for Overseas Direct Purchases to 100 Brands
Naver is expanding the scope of its free authentication service conducted in collaboration with the Korea Luxury Authentication Institute on the overseas direct purchase window. While previously authentication was available for products from 50 brands, starting from April, it will be expanded to 100 brands.
The free authentication service supports genuine product verification in cooperation with the Korea Luxury Authentication Institute for items purchased in the free authentication category within the Naver Shopping overseas direct purchase window. If the product requested for authentication by the buyer is determined to be genuine, the Korea Luxury Authentication Institute issues a genuine guarantee card. If the product is confirmed to be counterfeit, the buyer not only receives a full refund of the payment amount but also an additional compensation of 200% of the amount paid through Naver, totaling 300% compensation.
Naver began testing the free authentication service last August focusing on eight brands: Hermes, Goyard, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Prada, Gucci, and Burberry, and opened it as a regular service in November. At the time of the official launch, the service started with 25 luxury brands, and ▲ in February this year, it expanded to 50 brands including jewelry & watch brands like Cartier and Bulgari, as well as contemporary brands such as Barbour and Vivienne Westwood ▲ from April, the scope and number of brands increased to 100, including brands like Polo, Nike, Adidas, and New Balance.
All authentications are conducted by the Korea Luxury Authentication Institute, a professional luxury authentication organization. Since the launch of Naver’s free authentication service in November last year, all authenticated products have been confirmed as 100% genuine. Meanwhile, the Korea Luxury Authentication Institute is collaborating on authentication with numerous commerce companies based on objective evidence.
