Gangjin-gun, Triplets Born... 151.2 Million Won Support Over 7 Years
County Governor Kang Jinwon Sends Congratulations via Video Call to New Mothers
In Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, the birth of triplets after six years has become a hot topic.
According to the county on the 11th, the triplets, two boys and one girl, were born as the second, third, and fourth children to the couple Donghoon Lee and Mina Kim, residents of Gangjin-eup. They were delivered by cesarean section at Chosun University Hospital at 31 weeks with a small body weight of 1.5 kg each, but both the mother and the three babies are in good health.
The mother, Ms. Kim, had been waiting for her second child after giving birth to her first daughter in 2019, but with no news, she succeeded in conceiving through in vitro fertilization last October with support for infertility treatment costs from the health center, and safely gave birth to the triplets.

At Chosun University Hospital, where there had been no triplet births for several years, the medical staff reportedly conducted pre-simulation practice to assist with a smooth delivery. The mother is expected to stay at Chosun University Hospital for about a week and then at the postpartum care center of Gangjin Medical Center.
Gangjin-gun plans to provide maximum support to the triplets’ family, including a first meeting voucher worth 2 million KRW, childcare allowance of 600,000 KRW per person per month, support for public postpartum care center fees (up to 1.54 million KRW for two weeks), high-risk pregnant women medical expense support (up to 3 million KRW), premature baby medical expense support (up to 7 million KRW), and Nutrition Plus support, to help with raising the triplets.
The childcare allowance for the triplets’ family will amount to 1.8 million KRW per month, with a total support of 151.2 million KRW over seven years.
Upon hearing the news of the birth, Gangjin-gun Governor Won Kangjin congratulated the mother via video call on the 10th, wishing “on behalf of the citizens, congratulations on the birth and a speedy recovery for the mother and healthy growth for the children.”
Governor Won Kangjin stated, “The birth of triplets after six years is a great celebration for our county. We will not only provide various support measures to reduce the parenting burden on parents but also establish a foundation for the children to grow well, accelerating the construction of Gangjin as a ‘city good for having and raising children,’ and create the miracle of population growth in Gangjin.”
Ms. Kim expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful for the congratulations and support. I am so happy and overwhelmed that all three were born healthy, and since the pregnancy and birth were difficult, I hope they grow up healthy.”
Meanwhile, on the 6th, Health Center Director Hyunmi Seo visited Ms. Kim’s parental home in Seongjeon-myeon to deliver a congratulatory message on behalf of all citizens along with a bouquet and childbirth supplies.

With the launch of the 8th civilian administration, the county has set “the miracle of Gangjin with increasing jobs and population” as its administrative goal. To escape the crisis of regional extinction, it is making desperate efforts not only through childbirth and childcare policies but also by incorporating them into new housing development projects, vacant house remodeling support, youth startup support projects, rental fee support for startup youth, and rural settlement subsidy projects, taking all-out measures for regional development with multifaceted support.
