Gominjeong "Must Protest to US First Over Wiretapping... 'Nallimyeon' Season 2"
"Presidential Office Angered at Critics"
"Can Seize Initiative in Korea-US Summit"
Regarding the revelation through social networking services (SNS) of U.S. confidential documents containing evidence of eavesdropping on conversations within South Korea's key diplomatic and security circles, Go Min-jeong, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, called it "extremely shocking" and emphasized, "The first step should be to lodge a protest with the United States."
On the 11th, on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' Rep. Go said, "Instead, the Presidential Office is currently directing remarks domestically, which I think is tuning into the wrong frequency. The ones who caused the problem and attacked are separate, but now they are angry at those pointing it out."

Rep. Go also likened this statement to watching 'Biden-Nalrim Season 2.' She said, "Back then, there was a lot of debate over whether the remarks were directed at the Korean National Assembly or the U.S. Congress, and whether it was Biden or Nalrim. Eventually, MBC, which reported it, was even sued. Looking at the current steps the Presidential Office is taking, it feels exactly the same," expressing her regret.
She pointed out, "It's not enough to simply say, 'We were not wiretapped. The Presidential Office is thoroughly secured.' Wiretapping did occur, and exact quotes have been made public, so it is true that security was breached. Therefore, we need to clearly understand what was compromised to improve security, but they are just insisting it did not happen, which is frustrating."
Within the Democratic Party, there is also an analysis suggesting that wiretapping devices were planted during the construction of the Yongsan relocation. Regarding this, Rep. Go said, "This is just my speculation, but I hope the Presidential Office considers this as a reasonable possibility and places it on the table. We must keep all possibilities open and respond accordingly, not just outright deny it," she emphasized.
She added, "Currently, the Yongsan Presidential Office is most concerned about its proximity to the U.S. military base. When the Moon Jae-in administration initially planned to relocate the Blue House to Gwanghwamun, one of the reasons it was deemed unfeasible was precisely due to security issues."

Especially with the Korea-U.S. summit scheduled for the end of this month, she analyzed that this eavesdropping incident could be an opportunity to seize the initiative in negotiations. Rep. Go raised her voice, saying, "The United States should be the one exercising utmost caution, so why is our country doing it now? From now on, instead of focusing our anger domestically, we must continuously demand clear positions from the U.S. Whether the summit happens or not, this is how we can take the lead."
