Gokseong-gun Launches On-site Education for Premium University Blueberry Class

On-site Training Operation for Expert Development

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that on the 7th, it conducted on-site training for the 13th class of the Gokseong Premium Agriculture University Blueberry Class.

On this day, the trainees visited farms of leading farmers cultivating various blueberry varieties to observe the cultivation status and pruning conditions of each variety. Comparing with the conditions of their own farms, they reviewed what they had learned so far, providing an opportunity to broaden their understanding of blueberry cultivation.

Additionally, to provide vivid on-site education, they shared the difficulties faced by farmers, discussed problems occurring during growth and their solutions, and held a Q&A session on the importance and significance of eco-friendly blueberry cultivation, facility cultivation, harvesting and management, distribution and prospects, and pest and disease control.

A trainee who participated in the on-site training said, “This on-site education, which covers beginners lacking various field training to existing blueberry farmers, reignited my passion for learning through this Premium Agriculture University. It was a meaningful time for cultivating and producing high-quality blueberries.”

Now in its 13th year, the Gokseong Premium Agriculture University started in February this year with the educational goal of nurturing blueberry experts by producing high-quality blueberries and strengthening farmers’ cultivation capabilities.

The Blueberry Class operates for a total of 21 sessions and 100 hours, and so far, six sessions including blueberry growth and characteristics and preparation for opening have been conducted.

Since its establishment in 2011, the Gokseong Premium Agriculture University has produced 637 graduates through 16 courses such as facility horticulture experts, agro-food processing, and Korean beef, playing a leading role in cultivating professional agricultural personnel across the entire agricultural sector from production to processing and the sixth industrialization.
