Gwangju Seo-gu Provides 508 Million Won Support to 142 Village Communities
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) will support a total of 508 million KRW in project funds to 142 communities this year, aiming to create a successful model of village autonomy.
On the 10th, Seo-gu announced that it held a signing ceremony with the 142 communities finally selected for the village community public contest project to carry out harmonious and mutually beneficial village projects.

Seo-gu declared this year as the first year of the 8th elected administration's living government and is promoting support projects to create new village autonomy models, including ▲ discovering new communities ▲ revitalizing apartment communities ▲ fostering village Brand Identity (BI) that reflects each village's identity.
Also, after meticulous preparation and review including preliminary education, group-specific consulting, and committee deliberations for about three months since February, 142 village communities across 13 fields in 4 sectors were finally selected as support targets.
Seo-gu decided to support ▲ in the village community sector: 36 cases of meeting formation with 70 million KRW, 11 cases of village BI fostering with 82 million KRW, 8 cases of agenda realization with 40 million KRW, 28 cases of free contest with 137 million KRW, 6 cases of communication rooms with 18 million KRW, 4 cases of Seoroieum Living Lab with 8 million KRW, and 8 cases of village pride contest award support with 15 million KRW, respectively.
▲ In the apartment community sector: 15 cases of meeting formation with 15 million KRW, 12 cases of free contest with 59 million KRW, and in the community capacity building sector, 1 case of Neighbor Village Visiting with 2 million KRW, ▲ In the specialized project sector: 4 cases of sharing promotion with 12 million KRW, 8 cases of women and family-friendly village creation with 25 million KRW, and 1 case of Women and Child Safety Alley Project with 25 million KRW will be supported.
A Seo-gu official said, “We will provide generous support so that changes in the village can be triggered through active participation and practice by residents.”
