Resumption of On-Site Operation of 'Sarang-ui Bap Cha' in Buk-gu, Gwangju

On the 10th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will resume the on-site meal service of the "Love Food Truck," which had been suspended due to COVID-19, starting from the 12th after three years.

Operated by Buk-gu and the Buk-gu Volunteer Center with sponsorship from IBK Industrial Bank, the "Love Food Truck" has been visiting Usan Neighborhood Park every Wednesday since 2013 to provide a hearty free lunch to vulnerable groups such as elderly people living alone.

However, due to COVID-19, on-site meal service was suspended from 2020 and replaced with distribution of groceries, lunch boxes, and rice balls.

The Love Food Truck, which will resume this month, plans to change the on-site meal location from the previous Usan Neighborhood Park to areas near national rental housing, providing carefully prepared Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) for lunch to vulnerable groups including the elderly and disabled.

It will operate until July in the first half of the year and from September to October in the second half, conducting on-site meal services on a schedule at five locations every Wednesday: Juklim Village Jugong Apartments, Sangochi Park, Bitgoeul Neighborhood Park, Yangsan Lake Park, and Munheung Neighborhood Park.

In particular, before the official resumption, a trial operation of Jjajangmyeon distribution was conducted on the 5th at Munhwa Neighborhood Park for pre-inspection, with nine volunteer groups including Daechang Hanmaeumhoe participating to assist with vehicle operation, food preparation, distribution, leftover management, dishwashing, and cleanup.

Moon In, the head of Buk-gu Office, said, "With the resumption of the Love Food Truck, which was a place for the elderly to meet and communicate along with a warm meal, we expect to minimize blind spots in food assistance," and added, "We will continue to actively support the smooth operation of the Love Food Truck."
