Gyeonggi Office of Education Significantly Strengthens Drug Crime Prevention Education for Youth
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will strengthen practical preventive measures, including drug prevention education, in response to the recent occurrence of new drug-related crimes targeting youth.
On the 9th, the Office announced that Superintendent Lim Tae-hee instructed relevant departments on the 7th to conduct a comprehensive inspection to create a safe educational environment and ensure student health.
Earlier, the Office had established the "2023 School Drug Prevention Education Enhancement Plan," which has been in effect since March.
To reinforce drug prevention education for all students, the Office plans to promote ▲ mandatory inclusion and inspection of drug prevention education in school curricula ▲ expanded support for professional instructors visiting schools for drug prevention education.
Additionally, to provide substantial support for school drug prevention education, they plan to utilize educational materials and content developed and uploaded on the Ministry of Education’s Student Health Information Center and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education’s student-centered curriculum website, tailored to students’ developmental stages.
Furthermore, starting next month, they will invite professional drug prevention instructors from specialized institutions such as the Ministry of Justice (Legal Education Center) and provide instructor fees to 190 schools in the district to expand school drug education.
