Presidential Office "Preparing for Close Cooperation at the Prosecutor's Level"
Following President Yoon Suk-yeol's strict order on drug offenders, the investigation into the drug beverage incident in the Gangnam academy district, which was being conducted by local police stations, will be transferred to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Investigation Unit.
On the 7th, Lee Do-woon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, held a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office and conveyed this information. It was also reported that the prosecution is preparing to closely cooperate with the police's drug investigation through the Violent Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
The previous day, President Yoon, upon hearing the report on the Gangnam academy district drug beverage incident, stated, "It is shocking that drugs have permeated even high school students," and instructed, "The prosecution and police must mobilize all investigative capabilities to root out the distribution and sales organizations of drugs and thoroughly track and recover criminal proceeds."
Meanwhile, the police investigating the Gangnam academy district 'drug beverage' incident have arrested and are investigating all four suspects who distributed drug-containing beverages to students. They are accused of deceiving students into drinking beverages containing drugs on the afternoon of the 3rd in the Gangnam area of Seoul, claiming them to be 'memory enhancement drinks.' The suspects operated in pairs, conducting tasting events near Gangnam-gu Office Station and Daechi Station, giving students beverages containing methamphetamine and other drug substances.
