Boseong-gun Hosts Boseong Dahyang Festival
The Mystery of a Thousand-Year-Old Tea, The 46th Boseong Tea Festival
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the “46th Boseong Dahyang Festival” from April 29 to May 7 at the Korea Tea Culture Park.
The Boseong Dahyang Festival is a 2023 festival designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and it was also selected as one of the “Top 100 K-Culture Tourism Events” promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.
Marking its 46th year, the Boseong Dahyang Festival will be held under the theme “The Mystery of a Thousand-Year Tea, Boseong, Let’s Play!”
In particular, Boseong-gun will welcome tourists with a total of 77 programs across 9 fields including tea culture experience, exhibitions, competitions, tea market, and performances, and plans to expand family-friendly programs to make it a festival for the whole family to enjoy together.
Boseong-gun is making thorough preparations for the festival and welcoming tourists to promote the historical significance and value of Boseong tea both domestically and internationally.
Since it is held during the Boseong World Tea Expo period (2023.4.29 ~ 5.7), various concepts will be used to attract tourists’ attention so that they can enjoy tea easily and comfortably.
The core contents of the Boseong Dahyang Festival include ▲Green tea leaf picking and tea making ▲Boseong Tea Master Cup ▲Boseong Ae (愛) Muldeulda (茶) ▲Green Tea Therapy.
▲Green tea leaf picking and tea making is a unique program exclusive to Boseong-gun and boasts the highest popularity. Tourists can pick tea leaves and make tea themselves in actual tea fields, escaping from artificial festival spaces.
▲The Boseong Tea Master Cup is a competition that evaluates the visual appeal, taste and aroma, creativity, marketability, and usability of food and beverages based on Boseong tea, targeting 100,000 cafes nationwide, and selects the best food and beverage.
This competition is expected to promote the utilization and consumption of Boseong tea and bring about the premiumization of the Boseong Dahyang Festival and innovation of its brand image.
▲The ‘Boseong Ae Muldeulcha’ program offers a special experiential trip dyed in Boseong, including enjoying tea beverages and tea foods prepared by local residents at the Botjae Greendahyang & Korea Tea Culture Park tea fields, ▲‘Afternoon Tea Picnic Experience’ and a leisurely forest trail walk, ▲‘Ecological Trekking,’ ▲‘Emotional Camping’ where visitors can enjoy blending tea and brunch after lodging, and ▲Kim Suja Green Tea Foot Bath Cafe’s ‘Green Tea Foot Bath Experience’ that relieves daily fatigue.
Boseong-gun focused on planning travel programs that allow tourists to understand Boseong’s ecological environment and naturally consume locally produced resources through the ‘Boseong Ae Muldeulcha’ program.
▲Green Tea Therapy is a space where visitors can experience finding their personal color, making their own perfume, green tea pack experience, hand massage, nail art, and face painting. Therapy using green tea has effects of stress relief and healing skin symptoms.
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun will hold the Boseong World Tea Expo under the theme “A Thousand Years of Boseong Tea, Embracing the World” from April 29 to May 7 throughout Boseong-gun.
The festival will also include various festivals and side events such as the Boseong Dahyang Festival, Seopyeonje Boseong Sound Festival, Fireworks Festival, Illimsan Azalea Festival, Beolgyo Mudflat Leisure Boat Competition, national-level sports competitions, and Boseong Residents’ Day.
