Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu: "Government Cooperation Needed for Successful Establishment of Space Aviation Agency"
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport "Actively Supporting the Launch of the Space Complex City Preparation Team"
Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su requested the government to make efforts to launch a space complex city preparation team for the successful establishment of the Space Aviation Agency at the 4th Central-Local Cooperation Meeting held at BEXCO in Busan on the 6th.
According to Gyeongnam Province, Governor Park said, "On the 4th, the special law for the establishment of the Space Aviation Agency passed the Cabinet meeting, bringing the installation of the Space Aviation Agency in Sacheon within this year one step closer," and added, "If the space complex city preparation team is launched to create early infrastructure so that experts can settle well and the Space Aviation Agency can be firmly established, we ask the government to jointly make efforts at the national level."

The Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, who attended the meeting, responded, "We will actively support the space complex city preparation team that is being launched for the establishment of the Space Aviation Agency."
The cooperation meeting, presided over by President Yoon Seok-yeol, was attended by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, ministers and vice ministers from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and governors of cities and provinces.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced support plans for the bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo, sharing the progress and achievements of the Expo bid activities in Busan as well as plans for activities following the site inspection team's visit.
Subsequently, a discussion was held on support measures for the Busan Expo bid.
Governor Park said, "Since Busan and Gyeongnam share the same roots, we will not only assist in promotion with the idea of hosting the Expo in Gyeongnam but also cooperate in providing infrastructure for the Expo such as convention and accommodation facilities."
He continued, "We will utilize overseas business trips for cooperation in the space aviation sector at the Hadong World Tea Expo to be held next month for promoting the Busan Expo bid, and also request cooperation from the regions where Gyeongnam Province has established overseas trade offices and from countries targeted for ODA projects."
On the day, progress reports were also given on eight items including ▲expansion of autonomous organizational rights ▲strengthening of autonomous legislative rights for realizing the local era ▲activation of local investment ▲establishment of a comprehensive regional development ecosystem ▲reorganization of special local administrative agencies’ functions ▲rationalization of education finance ▲improvement directions for the autonomous police system ▲expansion of local allocation tax.
The attendees showed the government's unified will to host the 2030 Busan World Expo by holding 'Boogi' dolls, the communication character of Busan Metropolitan City, and hand signs, and encouraged the Expo site inspection team visiting Korea by visiting Nurimaru APEC House.

Before the cooperation meeting, at the 55th Extraordinary General Assembly of the Korea Association of Governors attended by city and provincial governors, a progress report was given on the strengthening of autonomous organizational rights and expansion of autonomous legislative rights, which were approved at the Central-Local Cooperation Meeting’s working-level council.
The governors discussed necessary matters for expanding local decentralization and adopted a joint resolution of Korean governors for the successful bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.
At the general assembly, Governor Park proposed amending the Local Autonomy Act by deleting the clause "determined by Presidential Decree" in order to transfer the authority of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to local governments.

He also emphasized that a forum should be established where city and provincial governors can discuss agenda items together when the Central-Local Cooperation Meeting is held.
