View original imageGyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated that he will do his best to support the bid for the '2030 Busan World Expo.'
Governor Kim attended the '4th Central-Local Cooperation Meeting' held at BEXCO in Busan at 3:30 p.m. on the 6th and presented about five key actions he can take to support the Busan World Expo bid.
At the meeting, Governor Kim first said, "Since my inauguration in July last year, we have attracted a lot of overseas investment, and Gyeonggi Province is home to the world's top 1st to 4th semiconductor companies. I have also met many CEOs of leading foreign companies," adding, "Many foreign companies are still very interested in Gyeonggi Province, so I will strive to fully utilize these opportunities."
He continued, "This month and next month, international events such as the World Journalists Conference, Goyang Flower Expo, and DMZ Walking Festival will be held in Gyeonggi Province," and added, "Especially during next month's DMZ Walking Festival, we plan to invite almost all foreign diplomats stationed in Korea to walk together and actively promote the event."
He also emphasized, "Gyeonggi Province has 30 sister countries and 142 sister cities, and 28 friendly countries with 58 friendly cities connected to our province and municipalities, totaling over 250," stating, "We will actively engage with these sister countries, cities, and friendly countries or cities to promote the Busan World Expo."
Furthermore, he said, "More than 32% of all foreigners living in Korea reside in Gyeonggi Province, numbering 400,000 people from 174 countries," and added, "We will sufficiently inform the foreign residents in the province about the purpose of the event so they can communicate with people in their home countries."

Finally, Governor Kim stated, "Having worked at the Washington World Bank and served as the head of economic departments in the central government, I have met and built relationships with many global economic leaders," and said, "I will make the most of the personal networks I developed through meetings with former deputy prime ministers and finance ministers to help with the Busan World Expo bid."
