Minke Whale Carcass Found Off Namhae Coast... 4m Long, 600kg Weight
The carcass of a minke whale was found off the coast of Namhae.
At around 7:59 a.m. on the 6th, a minke whale carcass was discovered 200 meters north of Nam-myeon, Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province. It was confirmed to be 4.10 meters long and weigh approximately 600 kg.
The Sacheon Coast Guard, which responded to a report from the 3.26-ton vessel A operating in the area, stated, "No illegal signs such as capture marks from harpoons or other prohibited fishing gear were observed."
According to the Whale Research Center of the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, the whale was identified as a female minke whale and was confirmed not to be a marine protected species.
The Sacheon Coast Guard announced that since it was confirmed to be a species eligible for sale, a whale processing certificate was issued to the captain of vessel A.
