Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that starting from April 12, it will promote the 'Digital Competency Enhancement Education' hosted by Jeollanam-do every Tuesday to Saturday for residents who have difficulties using digital technology.

The education will be conducted at two locations: the county computer training center and the Sandong-myeon Nadri Market. From Tuesday to Friday, digital utilization education will be held at the county computer training center four times a week, and every Saturday, specialized education such as Smart Store training will be provided at the Sandong-myeon Nadri Market.

Due to COVID-19, lifestyle patterns have shifted towards unmanned and non-face-to-face methods, causing a significant digital information gap among vulnerable groups such as the elderly. With the increased use of smart devices (smartphones, tablets, kiosks, etc.), these vulnerable groups not only experience inconveniences in daily life but also face social and economic discrimination or exclusion.

Accordingly, the county offers education focused on practical daily life use, considering changes in the digital environment and technological advancements, targeting all residents including the digitally vulnerable. The curriculum ranges from "Internet Basics" to "Smartphone and Kiosk Usage Education," and also includes artificial intelligence courses such as ChatGPT to respond to the transition into the AI era.

County Governor Kim Soon-ho stated, "As society rapidly changes, the digital information gap among vulnerable groups such as the elderly can lead to serious social problems," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that all residents can enjoy the benefits of digital technology in their daily lives."
