Statistics Korea, Special Lecture on ChatGPT for Building AI-Based Statistical Services
On the 6th, Statistics Korea announced that it held a special lecture titled "How ChatGPT Will Change Our Lives."
In the lecture, Professor Jang Min, a concurrent professor at POSTECH and CEO of the AI startup NeuralWorksLab, introduced ChatGPT, one of the large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) models, and shared insights on how AI services are transforming our lives and work, recent social issues, and ways to utilize AI in the workplace.
Professor Jang emphasized, "It is important for the public sector, which holds a large amount of data, to play a role in providing growth engines through AI to individuals and companies in order to make generative AI services using large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, which are already rapidly spreading among the public, more valuable."
Statistics Korea plans to modernize, intelligentize, and automate the statistical information service environment through the Statistical Information Platform and One-Portal Construction Project to promote the widespread use of statistical data, aiming to complete it by 2028.
The project will mainly consist of the 'Statistical Data Hub Platform,' an open platform that simultaneously strengthens data linkage utilization and sensitive information protection functions, and the One-Portal, which integrates separately provided statistical services such as the National Statistical Portal (KOSIS), Statistical Geographic Information Service (SGIS), and e-Nara Indicators.
In particular, the 'One-Portal' service will focus on providing an intelligent statistical utilization environment to support the use of statistical data. Users will be able to receive real-time statistical information that has been secondarily processed and analyzed using generative AI like ChatGPT, as well as natural language statistical Q&A and recommendations for statistical data usable in research.
