BYD, the world's top-selling electric vehicle manufacturer, is making a full-scale entry into the domestic electric commercial vehicle market in South Korea by partnering with GS Global. The domestic 1-ton truck market has been virtually monopolized by Hyundai Motor's Porter and Kia's Bongo, giving consumers another 'choice.'
On the 6th, GS Global unveiled BYD's 1-ton electric truck, the T4K, for the first time at Crest 72 in Jung-gu, Seoul. The company is the official importer of BYD commercial vehicles in South Korea.
This vehicle is equipped with BYD's Blade Battery, which overcomes the volume issues of conventional lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and further enhances the advantage of thermal stability. The battery's maximum capacity is 82 kWh, allowing for a driving range of 246 km at room temperature and 209 km in cold conditions, according to the Ministry of Environment certification standards. The motor output is 140 kW. GS Global explains that this is the highest capacity and output among domestic 1-ton electric trucks.
The T4K is the first commercial vehicle in South Korea to feature Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology, which allows the vehicle's electric power to be supplied externally. By connecting a dedicated gender to the charging port behind the passenger seat, devices such as TVs and microwaves can be used outdoors. There is also a separate 220V plug inside the cabin.
Tmap's electric vehicle-exclusive navigation system is provided for the first time in a commercial vehicle. It allows drivers to check the driving range based on the remaining battery during operation. It includes EV-specific functions such as route confirmation to the destination and EV charging station guidance. SK Telecom's AI voice recognition system, 'NUGU,' is also installed.
The interior is equipped with a 12.8-inch smart pad. Basic options include a full-color LCD cluster, smart key, heated steering wheel, and wireless charging pad.

The price of the T4K Super Cab Long Range Premium is 46.69 million KRW. With the maximum electric vehicle subsidies from the Ministry of Environment (12 million KRW) and local governments, plus additional support for small business owners, it can be purchased for about 19 million KRW. Purchases are available from midnight on the 7th via the KakaoT mobile app. Through reservation and consultation requests, customers can connect directly with regional dealers. Specifications and estimated prices after subsidy application can also be checked, and customers are informed about the vehicle delivery status after contract.
Lee Young-hwan, CEO of GS Global, said, "A single internal combustion engine passenger car emits more than 34 tons of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. In contrast, electric vehicles can reduce this to about 23 tons," adding, "GS Global aims to contribute, even if modestly, to carbon reduction efforts through the T4K."
