Sejong-si, Temporary Special Support for Youth Monthly Rent 'Up to 200,000 Won per Month'
Sejong City will provide temporary special monthly rent support for young adults without housing who live independently from their parents in separate residences.
The city announced on the 6th that it will promote the "Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support Project" in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This project has been recruiting and supporting eligible participants since August last year and is already in operation. However, as of the end of last month, only about 200 young participants have been selected, which is fewer than the initial target of 900.
Accordingly, the city plans to select additional young participants through further recruitment to help reduce their housing cost burden.
Eligible applicants are young adults aged 19 to 34 (born between 1998 and 2004) without housing who do not live with their parents and reside in housing with a deposit of 50 million KRW or less and monthly rent of 600,000 KRW or less.
Youth participating in the project will receive up to 200,000 KRW per month for one year within the range of the actual rent paid.
However, those who own housing including pre-sale rights and move-in rights, those renting housing from direct ascendants, siblings, or relatives within the second degree of kinship, residents of public rental housing under the "Special Act on Public Housing," and beneficiaries of existing monthly rent support programs implemented by local governments are excluded.
Additionally, the youth's own household must meet an income requirement of 60% or less of the median income (1,246,735 KRW for a single-person household), and the original household including parents must meet 100% or less of the median income (4,434,816 KRW for a three-person household).
The asset requirement is a total asset amount of 107 million KRW or less for the youth's own household and 380 million KRW or less for the original household including parents. For those aged 30 or older, or recognized as living separately from parents due to marriage, being an unwed father, or unwed mother, only the youth's own household income and assets are applied independently.
Applications can be submitted until August 21 via the Bokjiro app or website, or by visiting the Youth Policy Division at City Hall.
