Last Year's Highest CEO Salary at Card Companies: 2 Billion Won for Jung Tae-young, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Card
Hyundai Card, Average Annual Salary of Directors and Auditors Approaches 700 Million Won
Jung Tae-young, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Card, ranked first in annual salary among credit card company CEOs last year, with his salary approaching 2 billion KRW.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure on the 6th, among the seven full-service credit card company CEOs last year, excluding retirement pay, Vice Chairman Jung received the highest salary of 1.941 billion KRW. He earned 1.29 billion KRW in base salary and 635 million KRW in bonuses last year.
Following him were Kim Dae-hwan, CEO of Samsung Card (1.806 billion KRW), and Cho Jwa-jin, CEO of Lotte Card (992 million KRW). CEO Kim received 677 million KRW in base salary and 1.015 billion KRW in bonuses, while CEO Cho earned 730 million KRW in base salary and 250 million KRW in bonuses.
Last year, Hyundai Card also recorded the highest average annual salary per director and auditor at 690 million KRW. This was followed by Samsung Card (621 million KRW), Shinhan Card (244 million KRW), Lotte Card (162 million KRW), Woori Card (149 million KRW), KB Kookmin Card (147 million KRW), and Hana Card (134 million KRW).
Samsung Card had the highest average employee salary last year, at 139 million KRW, the only company exceeding 130 million KRW. Shinhan Card and Kookmin Card followed, each recording 127 million KRW. Hyundai Card had 120 million KRW, Hana Card 113 million KRW, Woori Card 91 million KRW, and Lotte Card 89 million KRW.
By gender, male employees had higher average salaries. Samsung Card ranked first with 159 million KRW, followed by KB Kookmin Card (148 million KRW), Hyundai Card (145 million KRW), Shinhan Card (139 million KRW), Hana Card (133 million KRW), Lotte Card (112 million KRW), and Woori Card (110 million KRW).
On the other hand, the only credit card companies where female employees' average salary exceeded 100 million KRW were Shinhan Card (112 million KRW) and Samsung Card (105 million KRW).

Meanwhile, Shinhan Card led the industry in average employee tenure last year, with 17.7 years. Samsung Card and Kookmin Card also recorded average tenures of 15.5 years and 14.2 years, respectively. Others ranked as follows: Hana Card (12.3 years), Lotte Card (9.7 years), Woori Card (7.6 years), and Hyundai Card (7.4 years).
