Jung Jin-sul, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea in the Seoul Metropolitan Council (48, Mapo), is reported to have submitted his resignation letter, drawing attention to the background.
According to officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Council and Seoul City on the 5th, Jung, a former aide to Democratic Party lawmaker Jung Cheong-rae and a re-elected Seoul council member, announced on the 3rd that he intends to resign from his floor leader position due to health reasons.
As a result, there is much speculation about the reasons behind Jung's resignation just nine months after being elected in July last year.
On the morning of the 5th, Democratic Party Seoul council members held a general meeting and decided that council member Lee Byung-do would take over as floor leader.
They also decided to elect a successor floor leader later.
