Police Agency and Chorokwoosan Foundation Provide Over 500 Million Won to 268 Child Crime Victims
Police Support for Children in Crime-Affected Families and Child Abuse Victims
The National Police Agency announced on the 3rd that it signed a business agreement with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation in 2021 and has supported 268 children who were victims of crime with 568.2 million KRW.
After signing the agreement, the National Police Agency and the Foundation have provided emergency living expenses support up to 3 million KRW, as well as medical, educational, and housing support to children from families affected by crime and victims of child abuse.
According to cases disclosed by the National Police Agency, a middle school student in Chungcheong who had not received treatment for dental caries for a long time due to abuse by his father was supported with 1.2 million KRW for treatment costs. A high school student whose mother was stalked and who also suffered from voice phishing was supported with 2 million KRW. It is known that this student later enrolled in a related department to pursue a dream of becoming a physical therapist.
The National Police Agency and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation plan to continue strengthening the cooperation system between each police station and regional headquarters to carry out support projects for children from crime-affected families and victims of child abuse.
Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, said, "Children are the future of our society," and added, "We will continue to work with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to ensure that children in vulnerable environments due to crime can grow up safely and healthily."
