SK Siltron and Gumi Facilities Corporation Conduct River Cleanup Activities
'World Water Day' Commemoration
Carrying Out Aquatic Ecosystem Conservation Activities
SK Siltron announced on the 31st that it carried out river cleanup activities together with the Gumi Facilities Corporation Urban Environment Headquarters to preserve the aquatic ecosystem in commemoration of World Water Day.
World Water Day, observed annually on March 22, is a day designated by the UN to raise awareness and prevent worsening water shortages and water pollution.
About 30 employees from SK Siltron and Gumi Facilities Corporation voluntarily participated in the event, engaging in river cleanup activities such as throwing EM (Effective Microorganisms) mud balls and picking up trash around the river to reflect on the importance of water.

The two organizations are participating in 'Gumi Industrial Complex ESG Together ON+,' a public-private joint ESG council launched in 2022. Gumi Industrial Complex ESG Together ON+ was established in November last year with the purpose of building a foundation for ESG management innovation through voluntary ESG improvement activities and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by spreading ESG management in the Gumi National Industrial Complex. Nine companies within the Gumi Industrial Complex, including SK Siltron, and four institutions such as Gumi City and Gumi Facilities Corporation are participating.
As part of its ESG management, SK Siltron is committed to preserving the aquatic ecosystem. Through various efforts such as improving equipment in the wafer manufacturing process to increase the use of recycled water, the company is continuously reducing the use of industrial water. SK Siltron was recognized for its water usage reduction efforts and became the first global wafer company to receive water footprint certification for all products from the UK's Carbon Trust in October 2021. At the end of last year, it also received a 'Leadership A-' rating in the water management category from CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) in recognition of its ESG management level.
