Hwasun-gun Conducts 'Oral Health Education' to Prevent Tooth Decay in Preschool Children
Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that the children's oral health education and fluoride application project conducted to prevent cavities in preschool children in the region was successfully carried out with the active participation of kindergartens and daycare centers.
From the 17th to the 28th of this month, the education was provided to 625 preschool children at 18 daycare centers and kindergartens in the area, teaching proper tooth brushing methods and applying fluoride.
Fluoride application for children plays an important role by hardening the tooth surface to build immunity against cavities and by forming a fluoride layer that inhibits bacterial enzyme activity, preventing the progression of early cavities.
Dental caries (cavities) do not return to their original healthy state once they occur, so preventive management is essential.
A health center official stated, “Lifetime dental health is greatly influenced by habits formed in childhood,” and added, “Since preschool age is a critical period for forming oral habits, we hope families will take great interest in ensuring children develop the habit of brushing their teeth after meals and before bedtime.”
