Ministry of Industry Expands Future Aviation Industry Cooperation with Boeing
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy discussed expanding future aviation industry cooperation with Boeing.
On the 30th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that First Vice Minister Jang Young-jin met with Michael Cignet, Boeing's Vice President and Chief Officer of Future Aircraft Development, at the Glad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.
They discussed expanding cooperation focusing on the proactive participation of Korean companies in future aircraft development between Korea and Boeing, regularizing the 'Boeing Supply Chain Meeting' to discover Boeing's partners in Korea, and requests for expanding personnel and additional investment in the Boeing Korea Research and Development (R&D) Center.
Regarding Boeing's future commercial aircraft project, the ministry requested Boeing to allow Korean companies to participate as partners from the preliminary design stage through R&D and equity investment. In response, Boeing stated that based on site visits to Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Korean Air (KAL), they plan to specify areas of cooperation.
