Chungnam Selected for 'Stalking Victim Support Project' in Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Contest
On the 29th, Chungnam Province announced that the 1366 Chungnam Center for Women’s Emergency Hotline was selected as a participating institution in the pilot project for supporting stalking victims, organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
The selected project includes emergency housing support and treatment and recovery programs implemented under the "Act on the Prevention of Stalking and Protection of Victims."
The emergency housing support operates six temporary accommodations (such as one-room apartments and officetels) to provide shelter for stalking victims in urgent need of protection, and collaborates with the police to ensure the safety of victims residing in the facilities.
Unlike the existing victim support method involving communal living, this program is designed to allow individual residence, minimizing the victims’ sense of discomfort.
The treatment and recovery program is a stepwise psychological stabilization program tailored to the characteristics of stalking victims, applying individualized and specialized healing programs separate from routine counseling.
A provincial official stated, “We expect to be able to systematically support local stalking victims based on the selection results,” and added, “We will do our best to help the physical and emotional recovery and stability of victims suffering from stalking.”
