Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Selected as an 'Excellent Institution for Internal Audit Organization'

Presentation of Case Studies at the Meeting of Heads of Audit Departments under the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, YGPA) announced on the 28th that it has been selected as an excellent institution by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' internal audit organization.

On the same day, YGPA presented an exemplary case of "Enhancing audit expertise through the participation of external experts in safety audits" at the meeting of heads of audit departments of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' affiliated organizations.

On the 28th, at the meeting of heads of audit departments of affiliated organizations held by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Lee Ji-seon, assistant manager of Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, which was selected as an excellent institution for its internal audit organization, presented an exemplary case of "Enhancing audit expertise through the participation of external experts in safety audits."

YGPA conducted a professional audit on the safety management status of the Yeosu Coastal Passenger Terminal and Expo Passenger Terminal, public facilities used by the general public, together with external experts in the fields of ports, machinery, electricity, and firefighting, as well as integrity citizen auditors.

As a result, 26 audit findings requiring notification and correction, and 1 exemplary case (the first domestic installation of safety fences on the floating dock to prevent passenger falls) were identified and proactively addressed, achieving the remarkable feat of "ZERO" safety accidents at public-use facilities.

Along with this excellent audit case, YGPA also shared the exemplary case of proactive administration, "The first domestic success in marine plastic collection and resource circulation commercialization," at the meeting, thereby enhancing the status of its internal audit organization through active promotion.
