Hanjin Builds Customized Incheon Logistics Center for Samsung Electro-Mechanics at Incheon Port
Hanjin announced on the 27th that it will build a BTS (Build To Suit) Samsung Electro-Logistics Incheon Distribution Center on approximately 10,000 pyeong of land near Incheon Port.
To this end, the role of Hanjin International CFS (Container Freight Station), which has been operating on the site since 1990, was transferred last October to the Incheon New Port Incheon Global Distribution Center (IGDC) and other workplaces within Incheon. Demolition was completed in February.
The newly constructed Samsung Electro-Logistics Incheon Distribution Center, which began construction in March, was established by December on a site of about 40,000㎡ (12,000 pyeong) with a total floor area of approximately 20,000㎡ (6,000 pyeong), consisting of a three-story warehouse and office building, as well as an e-waste collection center. Full-scale operations are planned to start in March 2024.
The distribution center is conveniently located near the Gyeongin Expressway and the Seoul Metropolitan Area Circular Expressway, providing easy access to Seoul and the metropolitan area. It can accommodate simultaneous loading and unloading operations for 75 trucks. The e-waste collection center will also be utilized as a logistics hub for storing and collecting discarded electronics.
Hanjin has participated in the transportation of Samsung Electro-Logistics’ domestically sold home appliances and import/export container transportation, and expects that the logistics partnership with Samsung Electro-Logistics will further expand based on this new distribution center.
The scope of operations has expanded with the addition of new routes between some metropolitan and regional areas. Hanjin will also participate in the import/export container transportation of home appliances for domestic sales and overseas exports in connection with Incheon Container Terminal (HJIT), Pyeongtaek Container Terminal (PCTC), and others, at a scale similar to domestic transportation.
Hanjin plans to further enhance storage and cargo handling functions, expand transportation routes domestically, and extend logistics operations across nationwide distribution centers to create synergy among tasks. Additionally, it plans to newly participate in the global logistics sector by engaging in transportation for home appliances destined for overseas export.
