Teenagers who lured a man in his 40s via chat app, assaulted him, and stole money urgently arrested
A group of teenage youths who lured a man in his 40s to a motel through a chat app, collectively assaulted him, and stole money have been arrested by the police.
On the 27th, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul announced that they had urgently arrested and were investigating eight teenage youths on suspicion of special robbery at around 7:30 a.m. the previous day.
They are accused of luring a man in his 40s, Mr. A, to a motel in Bongcheon-dong through a chat app, collectively assaulting him, and extorting money. The total amount of money stolen from Mr. A is reported to be 52 million won.
The police apprehended the eight suspects sequentially within 12 hours of the report. It is known that they were hiding in various places such as hideouts, residences, and streets.
None of them fall under the category of juvenile offenders exempt from criminal punishment, so they are subject to criminal prosecution.

The police stated, "Further investigation is needed," and added, "We are also considering applying for arrest warrants for some of the ringleaders."
