Geumcheon-gu Creates a 'Green Happy City' with Tree Planting on Arbor Day
Geumcheon-gu Holds the 78th Arbor Day Tree Planting Event
Reflecting on the Meaning of Arbor Day with Residents, Planting 600 Mokbaegilhong and Yeongsanhong Trees
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held a tree planting event with residents at 3 p.m. on the 24th to commemorate the 78th Arbor Day at the Sunheung An Clan Yangdogong Branch Cemetery (around San 126-1, Siheung-dong).
A total of 11 resident families participated in this Arbor Day event, including one multicultural family, creating a space for communication and harmony for a happy Geumcheon.
About 50 participants in the event planted 600 Mokbaegilhong and Yeongsanhong trees together while reflecting on the meaning of Arbor Day. To enhance pride in the local area and spread a green culture in daily life, booklets introducing the beautiful spaces of Anyangcheon in Geumcheon-gu were distributed to all attendees.
The Sunheung An Clan Yangdogong Branch Cemetery is a cultural asset of Geumcheon-gu designated as Seoul City Tangible Cultural Property No. 74. Geumcheon-gu has signed a green space utilization contract with the Sunheung An Clan Yangdogong Branch Association and is promoting disaster prevention and park development projects.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Mokbaegilhong has the flower language of ‘wealth and happiness,’ and Yeongsanhong has the flower language of ‘first love.’ I hope Geumcheon becomes prosperous with happiness and love, just like the flower meanings of these two trees.” He added, “We will strive to expand green spaces and create a ‘Green Happy City Geumcheon’ where people can live in harmony with nature.”
