No Seung-yeol reduced one stroke in the first round of the Corales Puntacana Championship and stood tied for 26th place.
View original imageOn the 24th (Korean time), the two players recorded 1-under-par 71 in the first round of the PGA Tour Corales Puntacana Championship (total prize money $3.8 million) held at the Corales Golf Course (par 72, 7,670 yards) at the Punta Cana Resort & Club in the Dominican Republic, placing them tied for 26th. While world stars participated in the World Golf Championships (WGC) Dell Technologies Match Play (total prize money $20 million) during the same period, making the competition for the title relatively easier here. Although the prize money is smaller, the rewards such as a two-year PGA Tour card are the same.
No Seung-yeol made three birdies and two bogeys. After struggling with 1-over-par in the first five holes, he made birdies on the 6th and 13th holes (both par 4). Kang Sung-hoon recorded four birdies and three bogeys. He was 3-under-par over seven holes, showing great momentum, but three consecutive bogeys from the 9th to 11th holes were disappointing. Fortunately, he changed the momentum with a birdie on the 12th hole (par 5) and looks forward to the second round.
