The 'Underground Safety Committee' is chaired by Vice Mayor Kim Jong-gi and consists of 10 members, including experts in civil engineering, ground, environment, and construction safety, who will serve for two years.
The committee reviews the Yeosu City underground safety management plan and serves an advisory role by examining overall matters related to underground safety management, such as improving the management system for underground facilities and designating or canceling priority management targets.
At the meeting, the members deliberated and resolved on the '2023 Underground Safety Management Plan' and engaged in in-depth discussions on systematic management measures for underground facilities.
Vice Mayor Kim Jong-gi stated, "Ensuring underground safety is more important than anything else due to recent ground subsidence accidents in major urban areas," adding, "We expect the Yeosu City Underground Safety Committee to play a pivotal role in preventing ground subsidence accidents."
