Gwangyang City Conducts 'Visiting Population Education' for POSCO New Employees
Customized Lectures on Population Policies for Regional Settlement
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 22nd that it conducted the first 'Visiting Population Education' of the year for 44 new POSCO production technology employees at the Gwangyang Steelworks Technical Training Center.
This 'Visiting Population Education' was organized with the cooperation of the POSCO Human Resources Creation Center to raise awareness of the seriousness of population decline in the era of low birthrates and aging, to foster desirable values regarding marriage, childbirth, and family, and to introduce population policies tailored to regional characteristics.
The education provided guidance on 123 support benefits throughout the life cycle in Gwangyang City, from pregnancy and childbirth to old age, and included customized lectures such as an introduction to city administration and a Q&A session on population policies, receiving great positive feedback.
The city is proactively responding by implementing 90 customized population policies across five major tasks: ▲expanding residential infrastructure ▲childcare and nurturing ▲supporting youth independence ▲supporting vitality in old age ▲responding to population changes, all aimed at realizing 'Gwangyang, a sustainable city where all generations are happy.'
Lee Bong-rye, head of the Population Policy Team who conducted the lecture that day, said, “I hope this education will help the new POSCO production technology employees settle in our city,” and added, “We will continue to actively respond to population decline and promote awareness improvement education to build consensus among citizens.”
