The county is famous for Chukryeongsan Cypress Forest, the largest artificial forest in Korea.
Cypress trees emit phytoncides, an antibacterial substance, about 4 to 5 times more than pine trees. They are known to help relieve stress and treat depression.
In addition, there are many forests and trees, with 61% of the total area covered by forestland, including famous mountains such as Baegamsan and Bultaesan.
The county is actively promoting afforestation projects by utilizing these advantages.
As of this year, the scale reaches 118 hectares. The forest management project has also shown excellent results. Last year, the Jebongsan cypress afforestation site received an excellence award in the Korea Forest Service evaluation, marking two consecutive years of awards following the grand prize in 2021.
Governor Kim Han-jong said, "The environment we enjoy is something we borrow temporarily from future generations," and added, "I hope everyone will take an interest so that the cypress seedlings planted today can grow into large trees."
