Gwangju Buk-gu Supports Scar and Tattoo Removal for Youth

Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is stepping up to support at-risk youth to grow into healthy members of society.

On the 20th, Buk-gu announced that it will be the first in Gwangju to launch the ‘Youth Scar and Tattoo Removal Support Project.’

Gwangju Buk-gu Supports Scar and Tattoo Removal for Youth

This project provides medical expenses for removal procedures and psychological counseling to help youth who face difficulties in social life due to scars or tattoos.

The support targets youth aged 9 to 24 who reside in Buk-gu and come from households with an income at or below 100% of the median income, as well as youth recommended by institutions or facilities.

Buk-gu plans to spend 10 million KRW on the project, supporting up to 2 million KRW per youth for medical expenses, and will provide psychological counseling in cooperation with the Buk-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center to prevent discontinuation of treatment due to long-term therapy or severe pain.

Youth or guardians wishing to apply can submit the required documents to the Buk-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Buk-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center or the Buk-gu Office’s Child and Youth Division.

Moon In, the mayor of Buk-gu, stated, “We will closely cooperate with counseling and medical institutions to ensure that youth in need receive support,” adding, “We will continue to develop and implement various policies to help youth heal physical and emotional wounds and become healthy members of society.”
