Seoul City Offers Free Inspection of Diesel Vehicle Emission Reduction Devices on 22nd and 23rd
Parking Lot at Jamsil Stadium on the 22nd, Parking Lot at Mokdong Stadium on the 23rd
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 19th that it will conduct free inspections of vehicles equipped with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) over two days, on the 22nd and 23rd, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment's Seoul Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office and emission reduction device manufacturers, in response to the frequent occurrence of high-concentration fine dust in spring.
To facilitate vehicle owners, the inspections will be held once each in the eastern and western parts of Seoul. Vehicle owners wishing to have their vehicles inspected can visit the Jamsil Sports Complex parking lot on the 22nd or the Mokdong Sports Complex parking lot on the 23rd.
During the inspection, the city will measure the concentration of exhaust particulate matter to verify the performance of the reduction devices and will focus on checking the operation status of the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) system. If any action is deemed necessary based on the inspection results, filter cleaning or simple maintenance will be provided on-site.
Even if it is difficult to visit on the event days, vehicles equipped with reduction devices that are still within the warranty period (3 years from the installation date) can receive one free annual filter cleaning by contacting the device manufacturer or the Korea Automobile Environment Association.
