Korea Island Promotion Agency Publishes First Comprehensive Periodical 'Islands of Korea, Islands of the World'
The Korea Island Development Institute (KIDI) has published its first comprehensive publication encompassing the projects, research tasks, and international exchange activities it has undertaken so far.
Korea Island Development Institute (KIDI, President Oh Dong-ho) announced on the 17th that it has published the comprehensive publication titled "Islands of Korea, Islands of the World."
KIDI, a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, created this first comprehensive publication to revitalize island tourism and establish the Hanseomwon brand.
"Islands of Korea, Islands of the World" was named to promote and commemorate Korea’s islands globally. It reflects KIDI’s vision of "Islands connecting the future, islands going global."
Amid the COVID-19 situation, the value of "clean" islands has increased, yet information about islands remains severely insufficient. Therefore, this comprehensive publication containing extensive island-related information is expected to attract significant attention.
KIDI included in this publication its various projects and research tasks that it has pursued to date, highlighting the institute’s key activities.
Additionally, it features island tourism information such as "Island of the Month" and "Islands You Want to Visit," jointly promoted with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as well as international island issues, including exchanges with Japan’s Island Center, all organized in an easy-to-understand manner from the public’s perspective.
Comprising four chapters and 93 pages, Chapter 1 (KIDI Business) details business agreements for building an island policy network, the Hanseomwon Academy, and the Korea Island Forum. Chapter 2 (ISLAND Scene) introduces the importance of islands through statistics, island living, island pilgrimage routes, and island travel information by theme.
Chapter 3 (Global ISLAND) covers global island issues, exchanges, policies, and tourism, while Chapter 4 (KIDI R&D) neatly organizes the 2022 research achievements by project.
This comprehensive publication will be distributed to the National Assembly, various government ministries, public institutions, private organizations, and local governments with islands, and it is also available for download on the Korea Island Development Institute’s website.
