Dongseo Foods Appoints Kim Kwangsoo as New CEO and Chief Marketing Officer
On the 17th, Dongseo Foods appointed Kim Kwang-soo, Executive Vice President of Marketing, as the new CEO and President through its regular executive personnel reshuffle.
Born in 1959, Kim graduated from Jemulpo High School, Yonsei University with a degree in Public Administration, and earned an MBA from Yonsei University. Having worked at Dongseo Foods for nearly 40 years, he is recognized as a marketing expert, having served as Director of Beverage Marketing in 2008 and Executive Vice President of Marketing in 2020.
He is especially credited as the key figure behind the creation of advertising slogans such as "Coffee is Maxim" and "The Smallest Cafe in the World, Kanu," leading to the market establishment and success of the national mix coffee brand Maxim and the single-serve coffee stick brand Kanu.
As the head of Dongseo Foods, Kim will lead the new capsule coffee business, which the company has entered for the first time in 12 years. Dongseo Foods recently launched its first capsule coffee product, "Kanu Barista," along with the Kanu Barista coffee machine. Previously, in 2011, Dongseo Foods had launched the capsule coffee brand "Tassimo" in a joint venture with the multinational company Kraft but later withdrew.

Amid a shrinking mix coffee market, Kim is expected to fully leverage his marketing capabilities to secure new growth engines through capsule coffee. In the capsule coffee market, where Nestl? Korea holds about 80% market share with Nespresso and Nescaf? Dolce Gusto, Dongseo Foods plans to focus on expanding the market presence and sales scale of Kanu Barista capsule coffee to achieve external growth.
