Major Japanese media outlets unanimously reported on the summit meeting between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the 16th.
The Asahi Shimbun stated, "It has been four years since former President Moon Jae-in attended the G20 held in Osaka in June 2019, and now the Korean president has visited Japan," adding, "This is the first time since former President Lee Myung-bak in December 2011 that a Korean president visited Japan solely for a summit meeting rather than attending an international conference."
The Asahi Shimbun also provided detailed coverage of the dinner venue and menu after the summit. The newspaper reported, "Prime Minister Kishida hosted President Yoon at the Tokyo Ginza restaurant 'Yoshizawa,'" and "Afterwards, they moved to a famous omurice spot favored by President Yoon, where, unusually, the two leaders held a second round of talks."
The Yomiuri Shimbun reported, "The two leaders agreed on the resumption of shuttle diplomacy, with mutual visits aimed at advancing Korea-Japan relations," and "They also confirmed plans to promptly resume consultations such as the Korea-Japan security dialogue."
