Ministry of Justice: "Under Current Law, Verification of Biological Mother and Daughter Information for 'The Glory' Moon Dong-eun Is Not Possible"
"If you go to the community service center and get a document, it will show exactly where you are."
The biological mother (played by Park Ji-a), who came to see Moon Dong-eun (played by Song Hye-kyo), the protagonist of the Netflix drama 'The Glory' who suffered school violence during her school days and decided to take revenge, said this after 18 years. However, this line in the drama was confirmed to differ from reality.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 16th, under current law, if family violence victim Moon Dong-eun applies, the violent perpetrator mother cannot receive the victim's information at places like the community service center. The revised Family Relations Registration Act, which has been in effect since January 1 of last year, clearly prohibits spouses or direct blood relatives designated as perpetrators by family violence victims from obtaining the victim's family relation certificate or similar documents.

Additionally, records related to family violence victims are not publicly disclosed on family relation certificates issued under the name of perpetrators or third parties. The amendment to the Family Relations Registration Act was made following the Constitutional Court's decision of constitutional inconsistency in 2020. The Constitutional Court ruled that the previous Family Relations Registration Act, which placed no significant restrictions on family violence perpetrators viewing or issuing family relation certificates of victim spouses or children, and even allowed perpetrators to easily find out if the victim moved or changed their name, was unconstitutional.
