Intensive Crackdown During Holiday Season, Maximum Police Deployment at Night
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency will conduct intensive crackdowns on drunk driving from the 15th of this month until May 31st during the recreational season.
The provincial police agency announced on the 16th that due to the increase in vehicles of spring outing visitors visiting spring flower blooming spots and major tourist attractions, and the continuous reports of suspected drunk driving despite recent surprise crackdowns, they will implement intensive crackdowns.
According to the provincial police agency, from January 1st to March 12th, out of a total of 804 112 reports received by the agency, 140 were suspected drunk driving reports.
Among them, 99 cases resulted in license cancellations, 35 in suspensions, and 6 in refusal to take breathalyzer tests. The number of cases detected between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. was 69, accounting for 49% of all detections.
On Saturdays and Sundays, the number was high at 63 cases, accounting for 45%.
