Lotte Mart and Supermarkets Sell CA-Stored Onions... "Fresh and Affordable"
Operation of 1000-Ton Scale CA Storage Tank
Lotte Mart and Lotte Super announced on the 17th that they will sell CA-stored onions until the 22nd to stabilize prices.
Generally, domestic stored onions are harvested the most in June and sold in storage until March of the following year, which tends to reduce freshness. However, CA-stored onions, based on years of accumulated CA storage technology, maintain firmness and freshness comparable to fresh onions, and since they are harvested in advance, they have better price competitiveness than freshly harvested onions.
Currently, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super operate a CA storage facility at the Lotte Fresh Quality Innovation Center located in Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, which can store about 1,000 tons of agricultural products. Various agricultural products such as apples and watermelons are stored here, and since 2018, CA-stored products have been launched to allow customers to purchase high-quality fresh food at affordable prices. Next month, about 600 tons of CA apples are scheduled to be introduced.
