Yeosu Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong, First Communication in 'Open Dialogue with Citizens'
Sharing Municipal Operation Directions and Gathering Residents' Opinions, etc.
Jeong Gi-myeong, the mayor of Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, held the first 'Open Dialogue with Citizens' in Hwayang-myeon on the afternoon of the 15th.
According to Yeosu City, at the first citizen dialogue held at the Hwayang-myeon Office, Mayor Jeong communicated through an impromptu Q&A session with about 150 citizens, including members of self-governing organizations, resident representatives, and farmers and fishermen.
Before the dialogue with citizens that day, Mayor Jeong directly explained the vision for the 8th elected administration, the direction of city administration for 2023, and major local pending projects to the citizens.
During the communication time with residents, 14 diverse opinions were received regarding inconveniences and long-standing projects of local residents, such as the construction of aging senior centers and village halls, installation of wireless village broadcasting equipment, road resurfacing work, and maintenance of breakwaters and infrastructure.
Citizens who attended the event responded, "The mayor stood out by actively listening to the voices of citizens and trying to resolve residents' inconveniences from the citizens' perspective," and added, "We hope there will be more opportunities to communicate with citizens in the future."
Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, "It was a precious time to listen to and communicate with citizens on site for the first time in three years," and added, "The valuable opinions suggested here will be actively reflected in city administration, and inconveniences will be carefully addressed to be resolved promptly."
Meanwhile, the next schedule for the 'Open Dialogue with Citizens' is planned to be held in Mipyeong-dong on the 16th and in Dolsan-eup on the 17th.
